Step by Step Guide to Using QuickBooks

Adding a Job to a Customer in QuickBooks Online

Jobs are like projects. And, from time to time you may need to create multiple projects for one customer especially if you are in fields such as construction, remodeling, consulting, and other professional services. QuickBooks Online's term for these jobs is sub-customer. Here is how to add sub-customers for basic job costing in QuickBooks Online:

Step 1. Navigate your way to Customers in the left menu bar, and double-click on the customer you want to add a sub-customer to. (If you have not setup that customer as yet, go to New Customer at top right of screen, and fill in the information. Refer to: How to Setup a Customer in QuickBooks Online).

Step 2. Next, click Edit at top right of screen, and check the box next to Is sub-customer, and select the parent company from dropdown below checked box.

Step 3. Click Save at bottom right.
